Yes it’s the changing that bothers me most. It’s going to be dark by teatime in the winter anyway, and light at 11pm in the summer. That’s just geographic fact of northern hemisphere life.

@Discombobulated what’s tea time? Dinner? Here I at least still have light at dinner making eating alone less depressing. But by 7pm I close the blinds since I’m ready for the evening. In summer it stays light as late as 9pm which I hate.

Light at 11pm?! Hey @ Blueberrybook that’s like those “white nights”!

Here on the longest days it's straight up daylight until almost 9pm, but it doesn't really get too dark to see until around 10:30ish (and then by 4am you can see again!)

Yeah teatime is an English thing In December it can be dark around 3.30pm.

The 11pm thing is really only a short time around summer solstice, then light by 4am again. It’s much more extreme in Norway (the land of the midnight sun) and Sweden apparently.
Thanks for this!

@Discombobulated Then is tea time something before dinner, like late afternoon? And you do have tea?

Yeah those Shetland books say it’s closer to Norway than Scotland. And in summer even at midnight it isn’t dark.

I used to have nightmares about it being sunny at 3am and a lot of activities in the building. It was years ago and I don’t know why I kept dreaming about that.

I think teatime varies Owl according to who you’re talking to, it can be pretty much a full meal or just sandwiches or a snack. Funnily enough I don’t think I usually drink tea with it although I’m sure some do.

And as we complain right now about the sun still being up at 9pm (or later) the nearly full moon has risen in Eastern USA. I'll be sleeping with a black T-Shirt over my face tonight!

The moon was so bright last night! Right in my window I was able to get up and take a PRN during the night without turning the lights on.

I think the moon is beautiful, especially when full, particularly the blood 🩸 moon. But it occurred too late for me to go look, way past bedtime. Also too cold plus it was cloudy. Probably not much visibility as another storm ⛈️ comes.

An as needed dose of a medication. If I can’t sleep I have extra Clonidine to (maybe) get some rest.
