That just seems weird to me. All my credit card companies want to do is keep increasing my credit limit.
Sky - you're clearly not doing your part in stimulating the economy. Go shopping woman! |

Credit card companies are the scum of the earth. They only want one thing; every drop of money they can possibly squeeze out of they're victims oops I meant customers. They charge you out the wazzou in interests and any other charges they can think of. If they're not making that off of you then I guess that you are of no use to them.
I say good for you, it sounds like you don't need those kind of cards. You could probably get a discover card which is a great card to have. My Grandfather and my Mother use it to pay their bills and what ever they buy; then they pay their card off at the end of the month. They get 5% cash back in what they put on the card. I'm not bragging so please don't take this the wrong way but my Grandfather is very successful financialy any financial steps he takes I am hoping I can fallow (which I have a hard time doing).

This happens quite frequently to a lot of people. Credit card issurers. Make money off cards two ways,
1) at the point of sale, each time a card is put through one of the machines at the register, the card company is credited a processing fee from the store (this is actually built into the cost of everything we buy) 2) Interest collected if you carry a balance and or any customer fees The company also incurs an accounting charge to itself for the line of credit you are carrying. Card companies track profitability per user. So if you card is dormant X number of days then the system is programed to cut the line of credit(deactivate the card) due to the fact that they are not making any money from you doing either of the above. Not all companies do this. Whenever you apply, read the fine print, it is disclosed there. I do not agree or endorse the practice, and I consider it poor customer service. TJ |

It costs them to "process" your card every month, send you a statement saying you don't owe them anything, etc. is probably why you got dropped. You cost them money if you weren't using the card at all.
Why do you have so many? We have the two; the one my husband uses predominantly and the one I use. We have the two so if we have a problem with the one (lost, stolen, etc.) then we have the other. I carry both with me but my husband only carries his one (that way I can put things on "his" card so mine won't look like I've spent as much, LOL). But when we were down in Florida a couple years ago we were shopping, bought some expensive items in a couple stores and since we were away from home, they put a freeze on my husband's card so we had to use mine until we could call them and find out what was happening and get the freeze lifted. They're both from the same bank though so that was amusing; left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing? We actually had AT&T try to charge us for not making any long distance calls on our business phone. Guess who got dropped as our long distance carrier on that phone? ![]()

I don't have any long distance carrier designated on my land line. That way, they don't have to charge me the monthly federal fees and taxes that often added up to as much as the basic phone service! I am still connected to the system, and anyone can call me from long distance, and I can use the land line (home phone) for any 800 or 866 free call without having to pay the federal taxes. If I should use the phone for a regular long distance call, then they do add that month's fees etc taxes to it, and I have to call and refuse the service again for the future. Saves me gobs of money!
I don't have "that many" credit cards. I do have plenty, meaning I have enough to suit my needs. But I held these two for emergencies, with high credit lines. If you must know, in my day to day, I use one card for paying all my travel charges as it has a spendid rebate rate and pays me for travel, and I have my Disney card which gives me great rewards for Disney trips and purchases. Sometimes I will open an account, like I just did, with Home Depot because on my riding mower purchase it is carrying it for 6 months without interest (no interest is accruing at all.) That gets me through real estate tax time without having to pay anything. But I'll not be using nor carrying the card. Well, I 'm not feeling sorry for the credit card companies. They charge the vendor for each purchase you make. Yes, if you don't use them, it might cost them a few cents. They don't even send a statement out by the third month of non-use though, so it's just another line on their computer documentation ![]() I'm perfectly fine with not giving them my business. It is my credit, and it they don't wish to cooperate with how I handle my finances, so be it. Just like with Sears. I'll never do business with them again...and it's their own fault. I bet they would have loved to have had me purchase my new mower through them, and I have appliances to buy in the not too distant future. I don't play their games. I have other places and things to go and do. ![]()
