I know this may seem a silly topic, but I'm really suffering from sleep interruption from this mattress!~ which i bought new last year. It heats up to the point that it wakes me several times during the night. I've put numerous mattress pads, quilts on it, hoping to deflect the heat that collects in it as I lay on it nightly. When I bought it, I expressly looked for one that didn't have the tempur foam on it, since I had that before and knew that stuff heats up from body contact. I don't have night sweats or hot flashes and so it's not that. I also recently stayed overnight at my aunt's house, and the mattress there didn't heat up and I slept wonderfully. The latest thing I"ve done, today was to order and receive a 4" futon mattress, all cotton, which i've placed over this "hot" mattress. I hope it helps. I may end up sleeping on the floor if this doesn't provide the remendy. I would like mattress recommendations!

Have you tried using an eggcrate on the mattress? They seem to help with the heat and I know they use them in nursing homes for those who are more bed-bound so they don't heat up so much.
I do suffer from nightsweats and hot flashes and yes, they do wake me and give me a rotten nights' sleep so I can certainly sympathize with what you are going through. Oh, another thought, I've found that using percale sheets as opposed to muslin seems cooler for me also. The high count thread/better grade sheets seem to work best for me. Hope you can find a solution! ![]() sabby |

Thanks, Sabby and Super, for the sympathy and suggestions. Well, last night, I slept with the 4" cotton futon mattress on top of my existing "hot" mattress, and it STILL heated up! I am still blaming this on the mattress, and today I plan to flip it, since it doesn't have the same configuration on the back side. I may end up sleeping in a hole, but will try anything at this point. And, Sabby, someone gave me an egg crate of tempur foam which was hotter'n h***, so I stay away from them also.
I guess there are far worse problems, eh!, but I'm really frustrated! Patty ![]() |

Have you tried putting flannel sheets on it, then a mattress pad over the flannel sheets then some cotton or silk-like sheets?

Thanks, Can't...
I have had 4 mattress pads on it, including a cotton quilt. Will flip the thing this evening and see if it makes a diff. Love Patty |

Thanks, Sabby, for those links! I may have to try the one for runners with the cooler (supposedly) moisture wicking properties. I did flip the mattress last night (ugg...heavy), and then put the cotton futon mattress on top of it, and it did feel better. This mattress, which I bought because it was firm and on sale, has some kind of unique fibers running thru the top part, which may be metal or plastic, retaining heat, for sure. The back side is plain, and I expected it to sink in with me during the night after flipping it, but it didn't and it was, indeed, somewhat cooler, though not enough so! The cotton filled futon mattress which I've placed on top of the mattess is great, and very firm, but I think the cover is treated with with some sort of moisture and stain resistance, and a 100% cotton mattress pad is needed.
Got to get a good night's sleep. Love Patty |
