HI, Andycamp...In real life, I'm employed as a teacher also, but in this community, we can be anything we want to be. Think about this some more. If you want to be a nurse or a healer of some sort, I say go for it!

I have an afghan I started but am physically unable to finish crocheting...I'd like to donate it to the craft shop to have someone finish then to donate to anyone needing it...it can be passed around to anyone who needs a special comfy for a while, then passed to the next person.

I would also like anyone who writes, such as orange_blossom who regals us with glorious stories, to do book signings at my book store. Though my bookstore is three stories tall, all will be easily accessible to all, regardless of how you get around. Hey, just found my name..."Three stories and more bookstore" Blue, you can hang out at the bookstore, too. Lots to do there, nothing productive at all! Griffe, there's plenty of room for a hyena either out on the trails or you could be the bookstore mascot and prowl around making sure everything is ok at the store!

"Three Stories and More" bookstore: what a great name for the bookstore! And I'll also contribute to adding to the crochet project.
So, what's this about Griffe being a hyena? Did I miss that?

I love non productivity i help my patients sometimes by my assistant who i interviewed for for 12 days, Pam. Pam may be just a physicians assistant yet she is hot property. i usually see my patients just enough to know their diagnosis then woosh them off to Pam who usually gives out anti-biotics. amboxicillin. free.

Wow the town has grown since I was away for a few hours. Took me awhile to catch up. I almost decided to sell the pool hall and get out of dodge....some things never change. Thought Tucson was toxic.....anyhow, WMD convinced me to stay so I can have coffee with him in the mornings. Beisdes if I left, who would take care of Butters and Macavity? Oh yeah and I can help with the crochet, just as long as I can mark the yarn with masking tape so I know what the colors are.

absolutely you can! The colors are brown and ecru and tan and I'm so sad that my fingers won't hold the crochet hook anymore, but I can't wait to see how it turns it!!

Rayna...I had the same reaction...You said, "I almost decided to sell the pool hall and get out of dodge....some things never change. Thought Tucson was toxic.....anyhow, "
I don't see our little community mirroring the same thing we have in real life...like shopping malls, ugh! But that is just me. I think of this "virtual" town as a place where each of us gets to create an alternative existence.
Love,
Patty

Oh I can't imagine....I wish I could finish it for you for real, be kinda hard though not being able to see it. Check out crochetville.com. Its a whole forum about crochet. They do this thing called swaps where they trade off. I bet you could find someone who could finish it and send it back to you.

Patti, thats how I see it too. I'm picturing a little town where its just simple....wooden sidewalkds, cobble streets. Where bickering doesn't exist. Amen to k no malls lol. Thats why I thought locally owned would be great. A nice twenty milde per hour life rather than the eighty mile per hour life of today.

Yeah.....I had so much fun on this thread, couldn't wait to get back to it. Then got a little down hearing the direction it went lol. Who cares if there's ah well I'm not gonna go there lol. Anyway, I like the little town I'm imagining. Just for the sake of dreams, lets meet at the Silver Sparrow and see if you and me and Patti can finish that afghan?

Cherry Oleander well it has the feel not for Tuscon but that little suburb to the East. the little one. i visited there as a baby but _still remember it. my memory is pretty strong some might venture. as a baby i remember the 'dry heat' everyone kept saying that i never GOT it till now right now. it is dry in the sense that it does not rain ans when it does well it pours.

Exactly, Rayna..."....wooden sidewalkds, cobble streets. Where bickering doesn't exist. " I actually have "visual picture" of it, and the quaint shops, storefronts, etc.
What kind of geographical location, climate do all of you think should be the location of our community?

What kind of stitch does it use? That would be so cool if I could finish it...might be possible eh? Anything is possible.

I'm picturing trees and mountains. Definitely not like Tucson lol. Dry heat yeah, an oven is dry too lol.

We definetely have streams and rocks. I guess I'm picturing a vally oops valley surrounded by snow covered mountain peaks with meadows and trees, flowers, pretty peaceful and quiet.

It's done in sections of chaining, then connecting to make a big circle, then single crochets then stitches to make a loose cable-like stitch inside the circle, then the sections are joined together. It is so blessedly beautiful; I miss working on it. I may have to pick it up and do even 5 minutes at a time if I can.

My picture of town is old fashioned, slow, uber-friendly, no one is made to feel bad about themselves, everyone fits in and is welcomed by name where ever they go. Oh it would be so wonderful. Everyone helping each other, all turning a blind eye to anyone's disabilities--physical or mental. This town is the best anywhere!!!
