There was a class of Police recruits and the police chief asked one of them what would you do if you had to arrest your mother in law? The recruit said...call for back up.

Um.....was this supposed to be a joke or were you serious?
If serious....That would be a tough one for me. I really love my mother-in-law, and I don't think my husband would appreciate me tossing her into prison OR calling for back up. Glad I'm not a cop. ![]() |

Kathy...it was a joke. I heard it on Joel Osteen. He always leads off his sermons with a joke.

The "mega-church" preacher?
![]() ![]() Years ago when I was first diagnosed with amyloidosis, I was told I only had a few years left of eyesight. It really placed me in panic mode because I watched my mother suffer and die from the same disease. ![]() We watched an episode of Seinfeld. They were sitting in the cafe eating soup, and Jerry said "I wonder if blind people know if they have a fly in their soup" - everyone laughed but me. For the longest time I was angry at Jerry Seinfeld. I STILL don't know the answer to that question, but I suspect if I'm left in the hands of strangers I'll be eating a lot of flies. I never thought so, but guess it's funny nowadays to watch blind and sick people struggle. ![]() Does Joel Osteen ever tell any blind jokes? Does his audience laugh? ![]() |

![]() I LIKE Carlos Mencia - but I've never heard him make fun of one of my biggest fears (blind and fragile) during a time when I was stressed over those same fears. It took a few years, but I forgave Jerry Seinfeld for stressing me out onto the edge. He didn't even know me - why should he even care if I'm eating flies in my soup. It was just his show, and he's a comedian who needed a laugh. ![]() Can you imagine having Carlos Mencia show up at your (or anyone's) church as a "guest preacher" to warm up the crowd? ![]() ![]() |

My point is that he realizes that you have to find the humor in life. Everything said tongue in cheek is not meant as an attack. A man I worked with lost his arm in an accident. He used to make really funny jokes about it. I refused to laugh, I thought it was disrespectful. We had a discussion about it one time and he said basically the same thing Carlos says about the mentally challanged... He would rather me see him as a person and notice that he happens to be missing an arm rather than a disabled person. According to him, the only thing he can't do is clap.
