I was coming off prestiq (I was on 300mg and have been for a few years) I was having no withdrawals so came off it quite fast.. i.e. instead of going down by 50mg I was doing it by 100g.. after going from 200mg to 100mg (I took 100mg for 1 day) and still no withdrawals I decided yesterday to just come off it completwely.

Last night had the worst night sweats that I could not sleep at all. And since getting out of bed today I am so unbelievably dizzy - like to the extent I can barely walk straight and a really bad headache has just started.. great

should I go back on it and just take 50mg for a few days and try again or just stay off it and hope the withdrawals pass fast? I am hoping to start a new AD when I see my pdoc on Wednesday and I don't even know if I need to be off the prestiq for a few days before I start the new one.. (I am starting an AD from one of the most oldest groups of AD's..) hence not knowing if I should just stay off it now..

It's Sunday here so obviously can't call my pdoc for advice and my chemist is also closed today..

help. advice please! How long should I be expecting these withdrawals to last and please please tell me I won't be getting the brain zaps like I had when I came off effexor many years ago..

what have been your experiences when coming off prestiq?

i see you wrote this yesterday so dont know how you feel or what you have decided. if you are still feeling like crap i would go ahead and get back on it until you see your pdoc. i do the same crap when getting off meds. if i feel bad i will get back on and cut in half and half again until i can get off them.

It sounds like you came off way too fast. I agree with kaliope. Many times withdrawal is tolerable until the med is completely stopped and blood level drops completely down.

Thanks for replies guys. I ended up getting some stemetil from mum to help with the nausea and dizzyness and it helped a lot feeling dizzy since getting up today but see my gp at 2.30 (it's 12 here now) so will ask him if I should just take stemetil to help combat withdrawals till they go away, although it's weird here cuz now a days they much rather prescribe maxolon instead but I need something to help with the dizzyness too! But I will see what he says. Had no night sweats last night which was good but I also could not sleep ugh hate med changes!!!!

Still couldn't sleep last night but no night sweats again and no nausea (yay) but really dizzy still oh and when I was meant to get up this morning of course that was the time I was starting to get sleepy and wanted to sleep!! ugh. See my pdoc tomorrow in the city (2hr drive) so am hoping I can sleep tonight so I am able to actually drive up to see him and my therapist. I know I probably shouldn't be driving but public transport is out of the qst and it's too late to cancel now and I really need to see pdoc and hopefully start on new AD I just need to be able to sleep!!!
