My pdoc and my T have discussed maybe weaning off all meds after I finish trauma therapy. I'm 38 years old and have pretty much been on/off some type of medication since I was 21. I'm wondering if anyone in this thread has weaned off and been successful after being on meds for so many years. It seems impossible to me.

Life without meds is possible for some and not for others. If a person has a diagnosis for bipolar disorder then maybe it would be unwise to discontinue medications?

You can always talk about ceasing with the T and P'doc. Sometimes the reality of not meds is just not doable. I have been on and off meds since I was 22. Each time I cease the medications for depression I find I struggle to cope with life. It may take 6 weeks or 16 months but it always seems to catchup.

Continuing to talk with your treatment providers is a good idea. You may be one of the lucky ones who can. But it will need to be a very gradual process that needs monitoring.
Thanks for this!
