Hi friends,

I've been fully stable and compliant for 2 years now since starting Latuda in 2014. I'm on 40mg at bedtime. Unfortunately, my cholesterol and triglycerides have risen above the healthy range for about 6 months. It's not super high, but I'm considering dropping an AP altogether or changing back to Abilify, which I tolerate well and did not experience lipid challenges.

If you have experience coming off of your AP successfully, please share your story. Thanks!

Hello Moogieotter: I'm not sure what you were looking for here in terms of replies. But I saw that no one had replied to your post so I thought I would. I've been on quite a few antidepressants over the years. However, in most cases I didn't stay on them long enough for coming off of them to be much of an issue. The last one I was on was Cymbalta... first the name brand & then the generic when it became available. I suppose I was on these for a total of a couple of years. I decided to go off of them when I changed health insurance plans & the out-of-pocket cost skyrocketed.

I had read that Cymbalta can be difficult to get off of. But my pdoc suggested a withdrawal schedule that spanned just 2 weeks. I followed it & had no difficulties at all. By the way, I was on Abilify for a short time before I went on Cymbalta. Abilify made everything I ate taste metallic. I pretty-much lost my appetite entirely.

I would taper off. Im tapering down my latuda and it has cause some sleepless nights for me. Im not off eventually thats my goal but probably wont happen right away. Mostly for the same reason you mentioned i want to get off.

Hello Group,

I have met with my pdoc during my regular check up. We're going to reduce Latuda from 40 mg at night to 20 mg at night. I will give him a follow up call in 3 weeks. If I feel any bipolar symptoms, I have the option to take more and report in to him.

I will keep you posted. Thanks for the support.

You can also try tapering slowly if you notice any effects.
I've been taking 20mg for quite awhile and I'm just starting to cut back to 15mg now. Cutting back to 10mg is too fast, too soon but I find cutting back 5mg is manageable.

All is well at 20mg now. I was a lil creative and mildy excitable for a few days.

I am not ravenously hungry all the time anymore so I think the reduction is what I needed.

Thanks,

moogs
