I've been on a 50mg daily dose of Zoloft for 6 months and have done really well on this drug with few side effects.

As I'm doing so well generally these days I began to taper a month ago of one 50mg every other day and felt fine, my Dr said after this I could just stop and be fine. So I did. I took the last one at the weekend but 3 days later I got this very weird feeling, a little dizzy, almost trippy feeling. I wondered if this was the withdrawal so took a half a dose (25mg) this morning and 12 hours on feel okay.

Anyone else had this feeling coming off Zoloft?

Any advice on tapering? It seems quite sudden to come off so I'm going to try 25mg every other day despite what my Dr said.

Zoloft should be tapered very slowly. If you are on 25mg every other day, do that for a week or so, then go to 3 days, then 4 days (week each). I have gone off and on zoloft several times and had the best results with this method.

A word of advice: Don't beat yourself up if you have to go back on meds. If you need it, you need it.

Thank you so much, that is excellent advice - I will follow your method. I took a half the other day and feel okay today so I'm pretty sure it was the withdrawal.

Really appreciate your word of advice too, I will be self monitoring very carefully and will start taking them again if needed.

Yes, that sounds like withdrawal. I agree...taper slowly.
