Hello everyone,
I hope that everyone is doing well.

My question is the following :
Why do doctors wean off patients knowing that they will suffer withdrawals?

If they do wean one off, they should inform you about the withdrawal potential and prescribe something in the same medicinal family, but in a lesser strength so that nobody has to suffer those awful withdrawals.

It can become a life-threatening situation,
I believe.

Correct me if I'm wrong but what do you think?

The reason they ween you off of meds is so you DON'T suffer withdrawal.

Why are you getting off meds?
Thanks for this!

I'm not getting off meds.
I'm just asking a public opinion.
Doctors have to know that weaning off meds could be complete hell to some.

My question is, why don't they do anything about it?

The option to ween even if it does cause a bit of harm, is way better than the alternative.

Going cold turkey is even worse.

Meds aren't perfect, but they have come a long way.
Thanks for this!

True,
But from what I read they are suffering as we speak. Even, when weaning off until stopping. Isn't that Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome?
I believe that medically, doctors may give their suffering patients a non addicting medicine.
But I don't know if that medicine exists.
