It's been 10 years since my mom passed away (Jan.3/99). Mothers Day is just another kick in the stomach for me. I miss her so much! I go online to foral shop websites and imagine what arrangement I would send to her. I imagine the place we would go for a lunch/dinner.

When will the pain of her not being here go away? I know that I am an adult and should be able to accept by now the fact that she is dead and is never coming back.....but my mind won't let me.

This is a book that was recommended to me to read but I never got the nerve up to read the book:

"Motherless Daughters: The Legacy of Loss" by Hope Edelman

Maybe this book will help someone here on PC that has lost their mother.

Hi Zen,
I'm sorry you're feeling sad. I will miss my Mom(died 12yrs ago) too. You obviously love your mom alot - so instead of feeling sad, think about all of the wonderfull qualities your mom had. In other words make mother's day a celebration of your mom - you could make a scrapbook, /go put flowers at the gravesite and even go out for lunch with someone special. Instead of feeling it's a sad day, think of it as a happy day, that you honour her memory. It's sounds like you both had a special bond and I don't think she would want you to feel sad. The more at peace you are , the more free her spirit will be free. Fill the gap that you have, with cherished memories and wake up with a smile on mother's day.
