I would say that there are two people in the world who truely know me, who would be there for me when ever, where ever. One of them was in a terrible construction accident and appears to be in a permanent vegetative state. I'm so torn up inside about it.

My other best friend and I drove to Maine to visit him over the weekend. We knew the prognosis was grim, but I guess I wasn't quite prepaired for reality. There's just nothing there.

My life feels so much more empty than it did three weeks ago.

I'm sorry to hear that you're so torn up and in such pain. My mom, aunt, and grandfather recently died, which tore me up quite a bit, but I'm hangin in there. I hope you will do the same. We are all here for you in your time of need.

John, I'm so sorry about your friend. I know how very hard it can be to lose a close friend... especially so unexpectedly. I hope you'll post here as much as you can. We'll try to help you any way we can.

John,

I'm so sorry about your friend's accident, and poor prognosis.

I don't think we are ever ready to lose a close, dear friend, or a beloved relative.

Within the last year, I have become very close to a first cousin of mine. She had a heart attack about 10 days ago, and I got a look at what my life would be without her. She is better for now. So I feel, I understand a little of what you're going through.

Please let us know if there are any changes in your friend's condition, and let us know how you're doing.
