Today's my mom's 50th birthday.

It saddens me because I can't wish her a happy birthday, I can't see her beautiful face, or even hear her angelic voice.

My mom wasn't perfect, but she was perfect to me. It was hard to read her by looking at her face because she rarely had any affect but I found her to be quite strong and wonderful.

Adrenal cancer took her away from me on August 11, 2004. She was 48. I just can't believe it's almost been 2 years. I still cry terribly when I think of her. I have a little shrine of her on my dresser. I'm the type that hoards all her stuff...as if she's gonna come back for them.

I even have her couch. I can't get rid of it...I just can't.

Anyways, today is her birthday. The birthday of a wonderful woman.

Happy Birthday, Mom

So sorry to hear how painful today is for you. I miss my uncle, who was a father to me when my own father couldn't be. Sounds like you still have your love for her, something the cancer can never take from you.
Take care

I'm sorry, Lex. I'm sorry you didn't get more. More of your mom.

You know she knows about all of your actions, since she died. All of your warm thoughts. She is right there, with you, in your grief.

Anniversaries are a *****. No doubt. Even if you try to ignore the calendar, you can't. The changing seasons. The length of the day. You can't hide from the calendar.

One trick I learned, around anniversaries..... I call it "puttin' out the cushions". You do know it's coming, so you prepare. You make cozy places in your life, to snuggle into when you need them. You know you're going to need them, so you prepare them ahead of time. So you're ready. So that, when the anniversary comes, and you don't really feel up to setting up a snuggly place, it's already there. Customized, for just that occasion. Customized by you, for you. Self love.

I'm sorry for your loss. She will teach you, for the rest of your life. You can live on, in her stead.

Blessings,
Lar

Lexi -

I'm sorry I didn't see your post until today. I'm sorry for your loss.

My mother was very beautiful too. My Mom was 84 when she passed on, over nine years ago. Darn it, but if I don't still miss my Mom too.
