I lost my Dad nearly three years ago when I was only 20. He had been ill for years, so I watched him dying my whole life which was very painful, difficult, and traumatic. My Dad and I were very close. Life without him is not the same and it never will be. I love my Dad dearly, but I feel angry at him. I'm angry that he did not stop smoking before he developed severe emphysema and ended up on oxygen 24/7. I am not posting this to get pity. I just needed to get it out there.

I watched my mother die of COPD from smoking too long too. I was much older than you but it was still awful to watch. She was my best friend as well as my mother. I still miss her and it has been 6 years. My grief and anger have resided but it took a long time.

I sought counseling. I hope you either already have are plan to. It really helps, especially with the anger.

I am sorry for your loss gaylegg. I have been to therapy and it did not work out for me at all, so I want no part of it.

My Mom passed when I was 20 years old... I can relate to such a life experience...

I lost my mom in March 2014 to copd and emphysema so I understand how hard it is to watch someone deteriorate from smoking. My mom had quit 30 years ago but the damage was done. It bothers me to see people smoke also. I have three siblings who smoke. You would think they would have learned. When my mom was in a coma my brother was smoking in the same room as her. I got angry when I saw he left his pack of cigarettes in there and through them out the door. I understand your anger. I am sorry you had to go through this at a young age. hugs to you.
