Hi all,

Is anyone currently in therapy for a bereavement that happened many years ago?

I was told last year I'm suffering from 'complicated grief' over my dad's death 15 years ago (i.e. I never dealt with is and have been stuck the whole time, basically wasting my life away) and am currently undergoing therapy for it (and some other issues). But because it happened so long ago, I always feel like I'm weird and the only one stuck for so long.

Can anyone relate to this at all?

I know several people that postponed dealing with the grief that carried it around for years. It is easier to face it than run from it. I admire your tenacity of seeking help for the grief you feel.

i don't think you are weird at all. i found for myself and i believe it is pretty much the same for everyone, unless we deal with our issues/grief, they will always be within us somewhere. i hope therapy will help you sort out all your feelings. all the best to you.
