our friend steven died this week.

he was in the hospital (really ill), and unfortunately never got released. he died on the ward.

when we were told he hadn't made it, we were also told that he was playing the cd we got him for christmas in hospital (which made us smile, just a little)

now we've decided that we want to write something for someone to read out at his funeral, but we can't seem to do it.. when we start writing it up, we get very emotional about it and have to stop

how can we go about writing it?

(perhaps a silly question, but not actually silly to us)

I am so sorry for your loss.

When I wrote a eulogy for my sister's funeral this winter I just sat down and wrote. Anything that came to mind. I didn't edit or judge. After I had a rough draft of 4 pages I went back and kept what I wanted, scratched out what I didn't want. Then I neatly wrote what I'd kept so it would be easier to read at her funeral. Read the eulogy and it went well.

I gave up on the eulogy Idea, I found it was too hard (I kept crying)

what I did do though, is contribute a cd of music I think he might like at his funeral, so I did something towards it, even if it's not what I wanted.

monday will be steven's funeral

I just hope the cd I made of the music is apreciated.

I feel quite bad for not writing about him, but I didn't feel I can.. it kept making me cry

I think music is a wonderful way to remember someone - it transcends words.

Sorry for your loss.
