I've been sick for 8 days. Could feel something coming on a week ago, yesterday. I figured it was just a cold and would go away on its own, so I took cold medicine once or twice a couple of days, and tried to rest when I could (didn't get all my paperwork done this week and I have to catch up by Monday), except I can't really rest. I had to get up early one morning for a conference (and thought it had been enough days and I was just tired from being sick, not actually sick anymore). So I took melatonin and went to be early. But I couldn't sleep even with melatonin (usually works for me), and was tired and run down at the conference and struggled to stay awake in the afternoon session.

Then the sore throat came back, and I still couldn't sleep even at my regular time, even though I was very tired, and I couldn't get comfortable temperature-wise. Hot/cold/in-between but still not right. Took my temperature and it was 99.8 axilary. And I'd been sick for a week. And all the glands in my neck, even around to the back, are so swollen they hurt.

So I made a doctor appointment. And I hate going to doctors and don't go to them if I have any choice at all. It wasn't even useful. I found out I don't have strep, and don't have mono. And he said it would probably go away in another week or so. I have no more energy. He did say to rest, but didn't even say not to go to work. Not that I could take a week off.

Blech!

Rap, I have been sick for a week too. And I can't rest, even though I am so tired and dragging all day. I missed one day of work because I had a fever; the rest of the work week was so hard because I am so drained.

I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks for this!

Try some herbal teas ....echinacea purpurea root, to begin with, but don't go beyond 2 weeks, along with other roots and stuff, like ginger root, pau D' arco bark, dandelion root, burdock root, cinnamon, sarsaparilla, sassafras, and stevia (you can get this specific tea from mountainroseherbs.com).

It's just echinacea and roots... what boosts out immunity naturally!

I also found a special herbal blend I love also... called Forests Blend (and it's one yummy tea) that is good for the upper distressed areas... everything in it is organic so I'll leave the word out now
cinnamon bark, fennel seed, ginger root, licorice root, orange peel, elecampane, pleurisy root, echinacea purpurea root, white oak bark... totally delicious!
From same place.

You know, you can make these yourself also... by going to health food store, going in the back where the jars are, and taking enough of each herb and spice to make a mix for about 3 oz. or 85 grams of the herbal combination you will like, so that you can take this for the 2 weeks your immunity is down, to build yourself up, and also...remember... whole foods, fruits and veggies and soups are the diet of smart women when we are feeling ill.

If you have a juicer, well, no time like now to get it going, when so many wonderful things are available for us to add to our diets that are healing foods and fresh right now.

Best to you... and I hope you feel better soon.

(I put the teas on there from washingtionroseherbs because they are so inexpensive, totally organic, and they are the #1 in their field, like this place is here at PC!

You can use their recipes and make your own version. I am not promoting this place, btw, but it does have educational info on all herbs and spices, etc.

Peace and Health,
Night

I overdid it yesterday and the whole end of last week, and I'm paying for it. I kept going to work because I don't have sick days and didn't feel so bad that I couldn't get by ok. And yesterday was long too. I ran errands, and made the drive to T (she said to come even tho I was sick), and practiced my violin. I was busy all day even though I didn't feel great. Today I hardly have enough energy to move around the house, and my fever is up to 102. It hadn't gone above 100 before with this.

I'm taking a "Triple Echinacea Green Tea" and various other stuff. Last night I tried a "Peach Detox" tea that has dandelion and cinnamon and a lot of the things you mentioned. Apparently it had a diuretic effect, as I dreamed about being very thirsty all night, and can't get enough water today, not to mention having to eliminate water frequently. I think that made me feel worse, but hope maybe it will get rid of what is making me sick. Warm herbal tea and honey is still good.

That is, if I can lift the mug, and get myself to sit upright enough to drink the tea and not pour it down my front.
