Gallbladder pain starts right below the ribs in the center of the stomach... the pain can then move up the right side of the body/arm and into the back... nausea and vomiting may occur.
One knows that is time to go to the doctor when these episodes appear more often and last longer with intense pain.... one knows it is time to go to the ER when the pain does not let up after an hour or two and one starts to vomit. Visiting your primary doctor in his office long before an ER visit is ever needed is the way to go.... less pain, no surgery, therefore, no recovery time. |

Ok here I am 4 months down the track and now instead of having just 1 huge stone it turns out that either I have 2 huge stones were 1 is hiding the other OR 2 that have become 1 (dont think that last bit is possible but what would I know)
I have gone from getting referal to seeing surgeon in 1 week to getting an op all in 2 weeks, If you wanted quick apointments you would never get them let alone have it all fall in place so nicely. So Friday is the day of the op. Because of the size of them 25mm each he has to take the whole gall bladder out but using keyhole at least trouble now is Do I need a medical cert to fly ? or will it have no effect on the healing. I am due to fly 12 days after the op is it too soon?

daggy, I don't know, but your doctor can tell you.
I am one of the lucky ones who had the laparscopic gallbladder removal and felt fine after one day of tiredness from the anesthesia. I hope all goes well for you! |

ok so here it is Tuesday - 4 days after Fridays op ( of which I think was a walk in the park it went that smoothly)Ended up with 4 little holes and have had only a few minor after effects
like feeling a little nauseated and only a little sore I can feel the skin trying to knit itself back together and as long as I dont try to lean too far backwards its alright. Still have to get the cert to fly but will tackle that when it comes. So overall thank you to everyone and I hope others can gain something from my experience

Go back to the doc. And don't be afraid of your painkillers. I had to sleep in a reclining chair for the first several days after my surgery. Maybe you slept in the wrong position. I don't think pain is uncommon after gall bladder surgery. Some people tolerate it better than others. But I think you should be checked to make sure. Bless You and Best of Health ~ billieJ
