Going for a hida scan tomorrow morning at 10 AM.
Nothing to drink or eat for 4 hours prior to the test. That's not too bad.
This test should let us know if the pain I have is from my gall bladder or something else. It will be a relief to know, anyway.

Has anyone ever had a hida scan?
What's it like?

Thanks for any help.

Peace!

Well, I had the test.
The test itself was nothing. They shot my arm with some radioactive stuff and took some pics. It was kind of cool, really. I could see my liver, my gall bladder, and my intestines on the screen.

Staying completely still was a problem. It took about an hour. And I have a very bad back. I've had back surgery already, and still have some back issues that surgery can't fix. They only had two small pillows to put under my knees; they were worthless. By the time I was able to move, at the end of the test, I was in tears, due to the pain in my back!

A big hospital with all this expensive radiography technology, and they didn't have one of those triangle pillows for under the knee! Unbelievable! How many people have bad backs!

Anyway, I went to the beach with my sister and my son afterwards, and had a lobster salad sandwich! Walking around made my back feel much better soon enough, thank goodness!

So, if anyone else ever has to have a Hida Scan, you'll know what it's like.
You just may want to bring your own knee pillow, though!

Peace!

I'm sorry you were in so much pain during the test. That would be quite miserable. I'm glad you're feeling better now.

Please say a lil prayer for me.
I looked up my Hida scan results on the net.
This is what I saw on the screen during the test, during the last 5 -10 minutes or so:
http://www.nuclearmd.com/Hepatobiliary_Scans.pdf
I didn't understand it at the time. All the stuff I had seen before - the liver, gall bladder and intestines - disappeared. And that blob appeared.
I found these scan results on the net, and researched what this set means last night. And I'm scared.
My doc won't get the results until tomorrow. He'll call me then, I know.
It doesn't look good, from what I could gather.
So, I'd appreciate any good will you could send out.

Peace!

Prayers are on their way for you right now. Please let us know what the Dr says and what all is happening. You are important. We all care.

Do you have anyone irl to help you? Support is so necessary if it's available.

Please feel free to pm me if wish.

Gentle hugs, (if ok )

Jan

Thanks, Jan,

I'll let you know as soon as I find out something.
I've been a bit on edge, but, yesterday, I turned my worries over to G*D, and went on with my day as best I could.
I haven't told my family yet, because there's nothing to tell yet. I don't *know* anything yet. And I cannot tell a picture. So, when I hear from the doc, I'll be able to have a network of support.

Thank you for your hugs and prayers and support. I appreciate them!

Peace!

Well, Good news, I guess! LOL!
The Hida Scan came out normal.
So, doc wants me to go see a stomach doctor now.
Gotta find out what this pain is about.
This is getting tiresome, honestly!
But, my worst fears were aleviated, (spelling?)
Thank G*D for that!

Thanks again for your support!

Peace!
