For the past week I have been having bladder problems.

Sometimes when I urinate it comes out in small amounts at a time. Figuratively speaking it's like a muscle is contracting and relaxing letting out small amounts of urine.

And at other times the flow of urine comes out normal.

There is no pain, discomfort, or irritation associated with my urination problem. The isn't even stomach or back pain. And the color of my urine is normal.

My GREATEST fear is that I have cancer or some incurable disease.

I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday afternoon.

I should also mention that I had a blood test recently for my kidneys and it came back normal.

I am so scared and worried...

I could really use a hug and someone to just be here for me.

((Zen)))))))))))))))))) Of course I care about you dear one. You have been so caring to me. If it gets worse or there is any pain Call your Dr back ok? Do not do what i did and put it off. From what you have said imo I think you will be ok. I am praying for that anyways. I do understand fear very well thou. I am so glad you are taking care of it .

Muffy and Miss Nora are right, it's best to get checked out by the doctor. I've had my share of "down there" problems over the years, and if I've learned anything, it's don't wait! Head it off early and it's less likely to get worse!

I also know how not knowing can get cranked up in your head. I do the same thing! I imagine how my family would react to my passing and all that. I think that's true of all of us. And I don't think it's silly to have those thoughts. I think it's normal and probably serves a beneficial purpose, too.

I'm glad you have taken the initiative to make a doctor's appointment. It couldn't hurt to be put on a cancellation list, in case you could get this out of the way sooner. Whatever way works best for you.

Imho, who wouldn't be scared and worried?? Of course you are! Bide your time until your appointment, take care of yourself, physically and mentally. Get busy, stay distracted with good things, and try to manage your concern and apprehension instead of it managing you.

Lean on your friends here, that's what friends do.

Hi Zen888,

It's good to visit the doctor and talk with them about your situation. They will be able to check things out and make sure things are okay. It may be possible that there are some simple reasons why this happening. There are muscles in that area, and it is possible for them to sort of become tense. I know it happens to me, especially if I am stressed or nervous, and sometimes in other situations, too. Some medications can also make it harder to urinate, like some pain medications. If you are occasionally taking something like Vicodin for pain, you may have more trouble voiding while it is in your system, and then once it has worn off, it will be easier to urinate again, too. Your doctor will help you figure out what is happening. Good luck....I hope it turns out to be something simple like that.

I'm not on any pain medications. Only medications to treat Bipolar disorder and PTSD. I have been really stressed out lately and worried because someone has repeatedly been breaking into my car.

*Update*

The stress of not know what was wrong with my bladder and urination got the better of me today.

I went to my family doctor as a "walk-in" with no appointment. I waited and waited...

I told my doctor my symptoms...etc and he had me take a urine test to test for infection. He assured me that it is not cancer. I asked him this several times.

On August 31st, I go to his office for the results of the urine test.

If it is an infection these are my worries:

> Last time I was put on an anti-biotic medication it blocked the receptor sites in my liver preventing my medication from working. Therefore causing a severe manic episode that was extremely embarrassing to put it mildly. This is not all in my head or paranoia talking...my former psychiatrist researched the particular anti-biotic that I was put on and he told me what I have just mentioned above. So, I am very scared that if I have to be put on anti-biotics I might have a manic episode.

Dear Zen888,

I'm glad you were able to talk to the doctor, and get reassurance that you don't have cancer. That is one less thing to worry about. Also good that you could do a urine test. If it is a urine infection, I hope you will talk with the doctor about the reaction you had to the other antibiotic. There are various antibiotics doctors can use, and I bet the doctor can check to see which one will work better in your situation.
