So I am taking a new drug for my hurt back - Mobic (I take it once a day in the morning - yesterday was my first day)
Yesterday I noticed my heart racing a lot in the morning, but I didn't really think anything of it. Today my heart is racing again. I looked up mobic online and found that it has the possible side effect of causing all of these heart issues ![]() I'm really scared now. i'm not overweight at all, and have weirdly low platelets and weirdly low blood pressure. last time my cholesterol was checked it was low. i was a runner until I hurt my back at the end of july. i don't know what to do. i am prone to panic attacks and i think that's where i'm headed. OR something is actually wrong with my heart I''m scared what do i do??? should i take a klonopin? help! |

Yep, call your doctor. If they don't have someone on call and refer you to the ER, it's worth a trip for peace of mind. (Those urgent care places are usually open on Sundays, too). Also, don't take the drug again until you've seen a doc!
Feel better, Tree. It probably is just a side effect, but it's worth getting checked out to reassure yourself and be certain nothing bad is going on. |

If you won't go to the hospital now, then you should once you're done with whatever you're doing. Even if its partly panic, we cannot give you the reassurance you need being that we are not medics and cannot do tests on your heart or know enoguh about it.
I cannot find any direct info to stay about the feeling of your heart racing, so I can't advise you using that. But if there is chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, problems with vision or balance it says you should seek immeadiate help. Obviously if you don't want to right away, then you should at the first opportunity. I know this event is important to you and your son, but your health should come first, if you are unwell it is only going to worry you and everyone around you and risk you becoming worse whilst you are out. That said, it might be panic, but I'd personally rather get checked out than be wondering. |

I took a klonopin and I think I'm feeling better. I think the racing heart lead to panic and I got into one of those yucky panicky cycles. I'm going to just take it easy today, take my son to his big event in a few minutes, and try to be gentle with myself and CALM. NO more of that drug for me - I don't like anything that makes my heart race!
Thanks for your help ![]() |

I'm glad you're feeling better. I would still suggest getting in touch with your doctor--if not today, then tomorrow--to discuss the symptom and its possible relationship to the new medication. The doctor will be able to advise you on whether to continue it or not.
Have fun today! |

![]() Can you call the doc to get another drug? Have a conversation with him about possible side effects? And any interactions with Klonopin. I hope you had a fun day and your son had loads of fun! ![]() |

I'm glad you are doing better now, Treehouse. I hope you can have a good talk with your doc and see if he thinks it was the drug or something else. I hope you can get some relief for your back pain. I have never found NSAIDs to be helpful. I seem to be immune to them or something, even the prescription ones.
To get a baseline idea of what is your normal heart rate, you could try taking your pulse several times throughout the day and keeping a record. Then if you feel your heart racing, try taking your pulse and see what you get. This can help the doctor know how severe this symptom is for you. ![]() ![]() ![]()

treehouse, i read your thread earlier after you were feeling better.
then i talked to my son tonight, his 31st birthday is today, and he told me that this week he was prescribed this for chest inflammation and had the same reaction. one thing he found out was that is it not to be prescribed with one the the meds he takes... |

So glad that you are feeling better as well. I too, would discontinue using that drug and seek an alternative, if possible. You are so precious... I'm glad this passed and you are alright! Love and Peace, Night ![]() xoxo

I went thru this last weekend; racing and slowing heart, flutters, pounding in my head (not pain, but the sound of my blood pounding in head, ears, throat), faint, sweating then normal then sweating... all signs of potential heart attack. I was worried, but not sure what to do. Then suddenly; total weakness in all limbs, blood turned to ice, and black and silver stars were popping in my vision - i was so close to blacking out. I called an ambulance, but when they got here, they took my vitals and all was normal.
![]() That said, I was told if it happens again, call 911 anyway - never know when the next one might be a heart attack. So - i pass on the message to you too. better to be safe than dead. So glad you are ok!!!! HUGS!

Whew! (((((((((((((((((((Tree)))))))))))))))))))))))). I'm glad the Klonopin got you through the day and that you had the wisdom to google the Mobic and study the side effects. See your doc for a replacement medication. If your back problem is only going to be short term, which I hope and assume, perhaps he could give you something other than an antiinflammatory. Best of luck with this from a felllow back-injury sufferer. billieJ
