so... today I've been having pain in my chest quite frequently, and I don't know whether it is something to be concerned about or not. It's a pain where the sternum is (I think) and situated ah, between the cleavage (not that I have any lol pain in chest ) ... but it is that specific area, but in the chest. The pain comes and goes, but when it is here, I can't take a deep breath because the pain gets worse when my lungs are nearly full, and then it involves the bottom of the lungs. It varies as to how long the pain lasts, but usually several minutes, probably less than five, and has come when I am resting or doing a light activity. My heartbeat during the pain stays the same as before it, and is perfectly regular.

I'm 20 and though I'm not exactly active, I'm not totally sedentary either, and I have a fairly healthy lifestyle... I don't smoke and I rarely drink. This pain isn't new to me however, because I have had it in the past when I have suddenly done strenuous activity without preparation... I've had it for years. It's just this is the first time I can remember having it on and off throughout the day. I'm not sure if it is some kind of angina, but all the sites I've read just say angina involves 'chest pain' and don't specify where.

Does anybody have any idea what this could be, angina or otherwise? Thanks pain in chest.

Have you been sick at all recently, or around someone who has been? Even if not, any history of asthma or allergies in yourself or your family? How about any lifting or odd positioning? I would suggest making an appointment to see a physician asap! Even if you feel okay with a normal or light breath, it should be checked out.

I had something similar, so bad it hurt to move. Never got it checked out though.....should have. You might see a physician, just to be safe.

I always tend to assume that it's nothing serious rather than worry myself silly. It could just be musculoskeletal chest pain, but if it's something that worries you I'd ask the doctor just for peace of mind.

It was worst on Friday but gradually over the weekend the pain has got less, and today I have had no pain at all, so I am hoping that means it has gone away, whatever it was!

Silver I have sometimes had that when I am having an anxiety attack. And also sometimes when my allergies are really bad and I am having a harder time breathing. I would do as the others have suggested and get it checked out though. Hope you feel better soon . Take care ok?

Hugz~
