I was on antibiotics a few weeks ago and ended up getting a yeast infection. Well lets just say it is a yeast infection gone bad. I have thrush which is being taken care of with meds and when the home health nurse was here yesterday to take a look at why my wound vac was being so noisy and not keeping a suction she said that I had yeast all around my incision point luckily though it hasn't gone into my incision.

Do you know of any natural ways to get rid of the infection? I can't take Diflucan due to all the other meds I am on. I wish I could but my doctor told me that he can't give it to me. So I am interested in going about it the natural way.

now i dont know how well it work with wound vacs but i heard yogurt is a great yeast infection killer...i dont know exactly where all your yeast infection is located but (this is gonna sound weird but this is what i heard, i would research it though just in case) if you have yeast in the vaginal area they say to insert yogurt and it will help....again..i would research this and see how much they recommend or how to put it on other parts of your body..and i dont know if i would yogurt around your wound vac..that doesnt seem kosher to me...this is what i heard..sorry i cant be of more help! Good luck!

Eating yogurt everyday helps the balance of good/bad bacteria. Cranberry juice will help too.

Yogurt is not only good inside, but it helps "outside" too. Slather it up into ... (wait for room temperature.) Use plain yogurt with acidophilus, or use a vaginal capsule of acidophilus.

You can make an herbal "rinse" of dried calendula, yarrow flowers, lavender, and comfrey root. Make an infusion, put into a peri bottle, or you can use it as a compress on a washcloth.

You can use the above as a douche.

Between treatments, keep area dry. Use an herbal powder with myrrh an goldenseal.

Aloe is great for inflammation, apply externally.

Apply apple cider vinegar as a douche. It restores pH balance too. Once a day for four days. (1/4 cu organic vinegar to 2 cups water.)

INTERNALLY you can make a great immune system support.
1/4 ounce each tincture of licorice, echinacea, usnea, goldenseal. Take 1/2 tsp 3x a day for 2 weeks.

See the health store lady or books for exact procedures.

Feel better.

because of blood glucose problems, i have a problem with yeast infections. my MD has told me to wear loose clothing that does not hold perspiration. when washing the infected area, don't use soap as that will throw off the bacterial imbalance even more, especially antibacterial soap. instead, just rinse. dry thoroughly. let the natural bacterial balance right itself on its own. if it's a hairy body area, trim it so that it holds less moisure. sometimes, doing less is better.
