Any one have any suggestions for a pulled muscle in your back? (I caught an A/C unit just before it fell out of the window). The doctor has me on a muscle relaxer and a pain pill and it still hurts and knots up. I can't take anything with codeine in it because of allergies. The doctor is being careful what he gives me because he wants to test me for ulcers and he doesn't want chance irritating one if I have it. My mom said I do have one because I was treated for it when I was younger. All I know is that I am in tremendous pain.

I hate pulled muscles! Have you thought about seeing a massage therapist? There *are* some techniques you can do at home, but nothing beats a massage from someone trained how to do it. When all else fails for me (including the pain meds!) and I can't see a massage therapist soon, I use a hot bath. Every single day for an extended period. There are also heating pads you can use, including a "bean bag" type that you just pop into a microwave. Give one a try?

That sounds decidedly uncomfortable! When I had my shoulder pain a hot shower was a little comforting.

When I tore my Quad and my MCL you could physically see the muscle tear and how it had rolled up onto itself under my skin. Can you feel/see it? Has it turned black or gotten a really terrible bruise where it hurts? If you don't notice anything like that then all the fibers are still in tact. The only thing you can really do is switch from 20 mins of ice to 20 mins of heat everyday and rest.
