i have fms and chronic fatigue. was wondering if anyone has that also. what are some things you are doing for it. were you dx before or after psych problems?
i was dx before. seems i've always had it--but then again i've always had bad stuff going on in my life. so, chicken or the egg???

I have FMS. I'm struggling with it, but my psych problems are taking center stage right now. It's hard because they seem to feed into each other. Just to let you know that you aren't alone, and there are several others here that have it. I started a thread a while back and got some good responses. Do a search, or scroll down the list in here. I think it's just titled Fibromaylgia.
Lots of luck to you, I know it can be a daily struggle. HUGS!

Just noticed this thread, I have FMS and CFIDS also.

For me what works best is hot baths, good sleep when I can get it, brisk walks when able. Lots of lifestyle awareness, pacing my activity, scheduling, being energy efficient. Using the book -The CFIDS/Fibromyalgia Toolkit: A Practical Self Help Guide- by Bruce Campbell, PhD.

I use Flexeril at night, various migraine drugs as/if needed during day, and just began a trial of low dose Paxil taken in morning.

In terms of diagnosis regarding psych and physical, they happened around the same time. In terms of FMS/CFIDS, I experienced an acute onset and it even started near Incline Village, Nevada during an unusual cluster outbreak there.

My favorite common sense site is:

http://www.cfidsselfhelp.org/index.htm

They have various low cost self help courses.

i'm in a really bad flair right now. haven't been this bad in a long time. the pain is driving me crazy--has been for the past 3 days. nothing is helping--did the relaxation, tried my meds, can't sleep cause it hurts too much to even lay down. i tried to take a walk, stretch and hot shower (not in that order) and went into muscle spasms like crazy. don't mean to complain but i am feeling so bad that i don't know what to do right now. just need to vent this and have a pity party for myself--something i haven't done for a really long time.
thanks for listening

(((((((w_i))))))) Really gentle hugs to you, please vent anytime. Important for us who are hurting to get a chance to sometimes unload.

I am off to take a hot soak myself and then lay down, plan to listen to radio programs on NPR for awhile.

Are you able to distract yourself with a good book, a movie, or anything else? Sometimes when I am not able to directly affect my pain level, distraction helps.

I will listen anytime I am able, sending good wishes your way.

Sarah

Sigh. I have a whole list of things to try when I'm in a pain flare... I have to hang it on the wall because "out of sight, out of mind" even though I "know" all the stuff... here's my list, and though I know our problems aren't the same exactly, maybe you will find something that helps you too?

TENS unit, Lidoderm patch, heat pad, ice pack, ice massage cups, medicine, hot bath/tub, cold shower, stretching, tennis balls (trigger and tender points) myoflex, cold swim, migraine med. heated massage recliner, colder a/c (below 70 degrees), braces/splints (back, wrists, knees, jaw), meditation, delta brainwave CD, marble (used with preset calming thoughts), calling T.
