Bad news for those of us who, like me, enjoy nothing more than spending five hours a day at the computer:
http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/0...e&ref=homepage I'm going to try and ration myself to two hours a day. I don't watch TV at all, so at least I don't have that problem. By the way, this isn't the first article I've seen that trumpets this particular issue. It's made news in the UK and in Europe. Take care! ![]()

I worry about the fact that I spend much of my time sitting throughout the day for studying and in classes. So sedentary even with what exercise I do get each day, it is the majority of my day sitting. It is even more of a concern now with studies like this. Not sure what to do though.

Intesting article...things I already knew and try to fight off by running each morning. I am hoping that does some good against all the time I spend sitting at my computer!

I spend waaay to much time in fron of my computer. Alas, it's an escape that I seem to need. I try to balance it out with exercise and reading when I can.

Quote:
those who spent four or more hours of rec. time ...were 50% more likely to die of any cause... um YEah, that's the way life ends... somehow? And several hours of exercise a week didn't mitigate the risk? So just what IS the risk? Sitting? Sitting only at the computer or just sitting anywhere? Hmmm being a little facetious here... so if I sit more than 2 hours a day I am more likely to die of something? ![]() Sorry, the PhD in me likes to destroy studies at times. Thanks for digging this up though ![]()
