Another night of no sleep. That makes several this week.
I am too tired to do anything yet nothing makes me sleep.
It is emotional in nature, post meltdown that won't calm down. I also have some pain from arthritis that interferes with sleep.
Last night I took Tylenol PM, no help. Tonight I took a full dose of Xanax, something I very very rarely do. I rarely take it at all and then usually just 1/4 or less of a .5mg. Tonight I took a whole one.

I feel like I will never sleep. Of course, I will, I know. The weekend will be a sleeping weekend. But what I need is regular sleep so I can be as effective as I can be at work.

Just ranting. I know it will come, and I'm being impatient.

Did the Xanax help, ECHOES? Sometimes just getting a couple of nights' sleep with a sleep aid can help us get back on track with our sleep. In my most anxious times (a thing of the past), I did sometimes take a piece of a Xanax at night, and this really helped me a lot with sleep. (I can't take them during the day because they make me sleepy.) I wish you many great sleeping hours this three day weekend. Do you have anything to take for arthritis if the pain gets too bad?

ECHOES, have you every tried Melatonin? If you are in the US, you can buy it over the counter. It comes in 3mg and 5mg but you can order it online in 10mg. Here is where i get mine, you buy 2 bottles and they give you 3 bottles free...quick cheap shipping:

I do believe this company will ship world wide and their prices are very cheap

OH! I hear you on this one! What IS it about our bodies (your's, mine and others with this response) that causes the body to dump SO much adrenalin that it does this for days??? As if the mind chatter isn't enough, our bodies keep going as well and doggone it, we're TIRED!

Things that have helped me
  • working harder on prevention
  • "allowing" it (me) to be okay with not sleeping (increased anxiety about it makes it worse
  • realizing that I can generally sleep 3 hours and be ok, and catch another few later
  • using a delta brain wave CD at bedtime
  • having a good sleep routine that I stick to ...unless
  • using distractions to help push the mind chatter out
  • making a list before bedtime of all the things left unsolved (so the mind doesn't have to keep working on them "in case" I were to forget
  • taking valerian, passion flower, skullcap to help relax
  • limiting caffeine several hours before sleep time
  • eating a high protein supper

Hope you find all the things that help you. I can't work because of my pain and fatigue...and that also relates to insomia issues, as I know you fully understand.

You must attend to this hon, you know this. Lack of restorative sleep begins to ruin the rest of your thinking and life in general, and physical health. Don't feel selfish about it: do what YOU need. (I can't imagine having to have to go to work with this issue. ) God bless you!
