Hey All,
My husband's sister has been diagnosed as being 'pre-diabetic'. She is also having problems w/liver inflammation. I don't know if it's something she's come up w/herself or if a doctor has told her this, but she seems to be convinced that the liver inflammation is because of the pre-diabetes. Ok, now I'm not a doctor, but I do know (sadly, as the number of people seem to be growing) quite a few people w/full-blown diabetes, and because I'm fat I constantly get subjected to glucose tolerance tests & crap, & the funny thing is that I have never heard anything about liver problems related to diabetes. Pancreatitis maybe - liver inflammation, no. And when her 'liver flares up' as she puts it, she ends up in a lot of pain. For some reason, something about this doesn't sound quite right to me.

Being a newly diagnosed type II diabetic, that doesn't sound right.
I don't think they're related, but what do I know. ![]()

Thank you for the link - I use WebMD a lot for my high blood pressure questions - never thought to go there for diabetes (go figure!). questions... I've also been reading a little more - apparently liver inflammation can indicate a pre-diabetic state, but I can't find anywhere that says that the liver is really involved in diabetes.
It sounds more like a form of hepatitis to me - and I can understand someone not wanting to say, "Oh, and I've got hepatitis, too" because of the assumption that the person now has an 'STD' or is a needle-user.
