... but not to me. i'm totally deaf in my left ear and part deaf in my right ear. it means i always have to explain that in stores/diners etc when the server turns their head away meaning i can't lipread. and altho friends joke about it (in the most hilarious fashion) ... sometimes it just drives me nuts ... esp when i ask a person to speak real loud coz i'm HOH and they still don't! argghhh! and please don't anyone say wear a hearing aid, anything in my ears (even earbuds for mp3 etc) hurts like hell!

sorry, don't need any replies just ... argghhh!

I've temporarily lost my hearing a couple of times. Made me feel very vulnerable and anxious.
That isn't trivial at all.

even with hearing aids it is a struggle. It's frustrating and discouraging and lonely.
Hearing aids help a lot though. I also lip read heavily, as I only lipread before getting hearing aids. Anyway, people forget that hearing aids aren't like corrective lenses (eyeglasses) that can correct vision... hearing aids can only aid.

Not trivial at all!! I have major hearing loss in my right ear and some in my left, and it drives me crazy when people joke about it. Hearing aids won't help my kind of hearing loss, and to me it's not funny!!!

Yesterday we were in another class the trainees of that class complained about thw lost of their pens, pencils and rubber they also accused them of not telling the truth. How can I deal wth people like these? Am I being wrong for not accepting this behaviour
