Today I went in for an echocardiogram and to be fitted with the Holter Monitor. The echocardiogram was kind of uncomfortable as the technician had to push really hard against my ribs, but what bothered me was that Dr's twice came into the exam room, where I was having the echocardiogram done, to review other patients' results on the computer. And both times they kept interrupting the tech who was doing my scan to ask her questions about how to use the computer or the results they were looking at, interrupting my proceedure. The tech did apologize and said they had an "open door" policy for Dr.'s but I felt it was really unprofessional and it made me feel very vulnerable.

That is awful Split. I would be upset too. If you want to, you can talk to your doctor or the clinic manager about your dissatisfaction with their service.

I know & you know & we all know the reason "they" will give for this unforgivable thoughtless intrusion: $$$. Time-management/doctor-support/etc. It all comes down to the basic why the person is rendered personless in healthcare: We are the product in so many ways as much as the recipient. We can't be cared about, we can't be individualized, and god forbid that we be handled in any way that lowers profitability.

All health car practitioners aren't the same, of course. Maybe, splitimage, a conversation with your doctor will get you more respectful treatment down the road.

I'm so sorry for what you went through in this encounter.

Yeah, I agree that that was thoughtless, and likely the result of trying to save money. I had an echo one time, and I remember being keyed up about what they would find. I certainly wouldn't have appreciated other people prancing in and yakking while I was lying there.
