Hi,
I could use some good thoughts. I am having surgery on Monday. It is hard in so many ways. Nobody likes having surgery, I know. I don't either! But the way things have turned out, this is doubly hard, because when I planned this, I didn't know my counselor would be leaving June 1st. I don't know if I will be well enough to meet with him again after I have the surgery. I will be allowed to have some phone meetings if it turns out I can't go to see him, but it's turned out to be a much more difficult situation as I contemplate possibly having to say goodbye (at least in person) with my counselor in the next couple of days.

The surgery is also hard. This is embarassing, but I had what I thought was a hemorrhoid for many years, and other doctors told me it was a hemorrhoid as well. It got to where it was causing a lot of trouble and inconvenience. My regular doctor told me to see a surgeon about it, and I found out it was a strangely-located polyp in the rectum - not a hemorrhoid - and possibly cancerous. It's not going to be so easy to have it removed. And in the back of my mind, I'm hoping, hoping, hoping it is a benign thing.

There are just a lot of stressful things here. I am trying to take them one step at a time. I could sure use good thoughts and prayers if any folks feel up to sending them in my direction. Many thanks.

Take care,
ErinBear

Surgeries aren't fun. I'm glad it was found out and that you're taking measures to have it taken care of.
I hope that the surgery goes ahead with no complications and that its benign too!!

Sorry that your counsellor is leaving too. That is an awfully large amount of stressful stuff you've got to deal with.

Good luck, and thinking of you!

Hi Sleeps,

I'm hoping it is benign as well, but the surgeon had various reasons why he thought it was more likely to be cancerous in this particular instance. surgery on Monday

But I'm still hoping it will just turn out to be benign.

Their office also said there would be a 2-4 week recovery period. So that is disturbing given the chain of events which happened after I planned the surgery - but it seems like it is important to get it done.

Anyway - thanks Sleeps. I really appreciate your good thoughts! Big time.

Hugs,
ErinBear

ugh. Anytime the body is "invaded" it's difficult, but to add embarrassment makes it all that more difficult. Try and realize that it isn't embarrassing to the doctor, nurses... and buy a soft pillow. surgery on Monday I'm surprised it will take so long to heal. Is there more than one way to have the surgery? Polyps in the intestine are one thing... I'm sorry it might be more complicated.

sometimes they don't tell us all the options because of the prices (and ins. coverage.) Worth a try asking more questions. I'll be thinking about you in this. TC

Hi Sleeps,

yes, of course I will see what they say. My counselor's office is quite a distance from me (about an hour each way) and that makes it a little more complicated to see him if I'm recovering from surgery. So we may just have to see how it goes. But yes, absolutely, if I feel up to going to see my counselor, I'll be there if I possibly can.

Thanks, Sleeps.

Hugs,
ErinBear

Hi Sky,

Thanks for the note. Yes, it's true about the embarassment factor, but of course it isn't a problem for the doctors and nurses, just me in my own mind. surgery on Monday

I've checked around, and it sounds like this is the only way to do the surgery, so that's about the size of it. Hopefully it will turn out better than it sounds! I have my fingers and toes crossed.

Thanks for the support!

Take care,
ErinBear

Hi Candybear,

LOL - you're right - surgery does totally suck! I think this is #10 for me in my lifetime, and I'd rather not do any more surgery in my life if there were a better way. Ugh. I hate surgery! !!!!!!!!

Thanks for the prayers - very much appreciated. surgery on Monday

Take care,
