Hi, I'm having surgery tomorrow to remove a cyst of my vocal cords. Will be glad to get it over with. Ive had it for a while and my voice is real horse sounding. Its not bothering me right now. Last week I had a procedure done and while the nurse was putting in my iv I started crying. Then I couldnt stop crying, my husband and I got out a magazine so I could look at it and stop the anxiety that was comming on. I dont like the feeling I had at all. His Aunt died unexpectantly last week, I was thinking about that and how it could happen to me.

Didn't Rachel Ray have the same surgery? I wish you well with it and hope that your voice fully recovers afterwards. I've had surgery a few times and it is normal to be nervous and scared. It sounds like your husband is there to support you emotionally throughout it all and that must be reassuring. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your Aunt and presume the surgery was scheduled well beforehand and that the timing of the two is unrelated. I wish you a speedy recovery!

I'm in a hospital environment for my job, so IVs don't bother me emotionally, although they can be painful, especially in certain areas of the arm or if the nurse or you aren't cooperating. I wish you all the best in getting through it and the recovery process. Try to keep in mind that the surgeons are very well-trained, read the results of the procedures so they already planned ahead and know what they're up against. If you haven't had surgeries in the past where you're fully under, don't worry about the IV. It may hurt, although it's necessary but once you're given the facial mask with whatever sort of gas they use, you're going to be out like a light. I've had several surgeries, a few of which were in the last 2 years and each time, no matter the worry or anxiety, it turned out perfectly fine.

I hope your surgery went great! I had surgery at 14 last year on my ankles to correct flat feet. Was in double casts all summer. All I can tell you is that it will all go "up from here". Tell your husband how you felt, I feel that after talking to someone, my stress evaporates! Especially when dealing with something like surgery.
Again, best of luck to you!
