Does anyone have a case of constant coughing with small amounts of phlegm - mostly in the morning but still through out the day (thickish w/ white to a light yellow tint)? - and if YES, what is its source..... allergies, sinus, heart problem, rep. infection, medicine (etc)?

Thanks...

My doc once told me if muscus from nose or lungs is yellow, there is probably an infection. I would see a doc and ask if you need antibiotics. Doesn't sounds like a big worry. Nip it in the bud before it gets any worse.

Take care, em

Yeah that is what I was thinking too.... it was worse about a month ago, but now it is improving - it seems to come and go (sinus maybe?).

I came here about a month ago because I was unsure what was causing my constant coughing. In the end I ended up in the ED (coz it was a Sun night and I couldn't stand another night of no sleep) and was diagnosed with bronchitis. I still have the cough , not much better (definately not worse thank goodness) but with similar symptoms to you. Sometimes there's phlegm, sometimes not. Sorry I can't be of much help to you, but maybe you should see a dr just to get it checked out. Like Emily said the colour usually means infection.

I get that and mines from allergies. the mucus so to speak from the sinuses drain "down" during the night My doctor calls it "dripping" and what goes down comes up in the morning with coughing. when I started taking benedryl for sleep that stopped happening. So try taking an antihistamine or decongestant before bed and that will clear the sinuses so that "dripping" during the night does not happen.

THANKS Rainbow & Myself.... what YOU two said is what I have been thinking..... but no matter what I will leave it up to the doctor to Dx.

I got Benadryl in the house so I will try it for a few nights and see if that helps.... Constant Coughing -

I can do that with post nasal drip. However, hubby (and mother) got a HORRIBLE cough from a medicine for cholestrol that they were taking.

I would go to the dr and have meds checked and yourself.

Good luck and let us know!

Well, I did what Myself suggested and it worked.... no cough or think stuff to get rid of today.... but now I have a nasal drip that will not stop - lol.... sniff sniff all morning long.

Thanks for the extra comment KD.... for I too take cholesterol medicine, the doc said that if all is well at my yearly this year I can be taken off of it.... its been my best friend for the last nine years.... stuck to my hip like clue - it would be great to be able to walk with out the limp it causes - rofl rofl rofl.
