For the last couple weeks I've been experiencing discomfort in my left side, just under the ribs. The area is not visibly swollen, but it is slightly tender.
Over the past few days I've felt occasional twinges of pain when I breathe too deeply. The pain is mostly centered in my left side, around the original source of discomfort, but it's also in my diaphragm.
Two days ago I developed cramps in my lower back, which is normal. What isn't normal is that they're still here.
As of today, my whole chest feels tight.

Does anyone have any help or advice about this? Money is too tight for a doctor to be feasible, and things are so stressful at my house that I haven't told my parents. The pain is slight, and it doesn't affect my activities or sleep, but I'm worried by its growth and spread.

Are you anxious? There are a lot of things it could be, but I know that I used to have twinges of pain when I inhaled as well as chest tightness. But you say the area is tender, so it's probably not anxiety. I know you don't want to do this, but it would be good to talk to your parents and see a doctor. It could be something serious.

I think it's partly anxiety, because it's worse when I'm nervous. I guess I'll have to think about telling someone, though.

If it doesn't get better soon I would definitely try to tell someone. I hope everything's all right. <3

So do I. Of course, getting anxious about it makes it worse, which makes me more anxious, etc. It's a vicious cycle.

I tried to tell my brother yesterday, but he dismissed it as psychosomatic. I can't find the tender spot either, so I'm not sure whether it's all in my head or not. All I know is that the region of my sternum is aching.

I'm not telling anyone else. My family doesn't take my physical problems seriously unless I'm throwing up or something.

This sounds kinda strange, but it can be something as simple as gas buildup. Gas buildup can mimic a backache as well as a heart attack. If you have any tums or pepsid, something of that nature, take a few, wait a few hours and take a few more. Most of the over the counter remedies for gas are calcium based and about as natural and non-harming as you can get. If it doesn't go away from taking them several times, theory is blown and on to another one.

Also, have you changed the way you're sleeping at all? That could lead to that kind of issues, and it's also spring. Allergies can affect any part of your body with inflammation and discomfort, not just your nose. Just a few thoughts.
Thanks for this!

I tried changing the way I sleep, but I couldn't get comfortable enough, and I gave up after two nights of less than six hours of sleep.

I've had gas build up before, but it's always affected my stomach in the past. I don't know if that can change for some reason.

At the moment my chest only feels tight, so I'm hoping the problem will go away on its own.
