I have a peramanant IV and right know I'm recieving another
IV for antibiotics and a week ago I was getting fluids(I have sepisis and a kidney infection)the permananant IV is for other things the other day the nurse was trying to find a IV site, and She stuck Me times then blamed My dark skin cause she couldn't get a vein,I didn't think that was fair, why not just use the permamant line?only the dr can touch that line i'm now stuck with a IV line in my hand too
and it's very uncomfortable,it's right at the top of my knucckles near my pointer finger on My rt. hand it's horrible I didn't come to a nursing home to get worse but its happaning slowlyI plan on tranfering when My wheelchair gets back to me I'm just worried about the same thing happa ning all over to me any advice? or questions?

Ugh I'm sorry for all this you are going through. I didn't realized that nurses are allowed to stick you so many times before getting someone who knows how to do that!!! heheheh I suggest you "stand up for yourself" and tell the doctor what you just told us here. You can also call the committee or govt agency governing nursing home care and file a report... hope things -and you- get better soon!

Nursing homes can be horrendous or terrific, you have a right to complain to an Ombudsman. You have lots of rights. There are also programs to help support people outside of nursing homes. Are you bound by family to the area in which you live? It is your life and your quality of life. Take no crap from no one and advocate for yourself. There are better Nursing Homes.
