Why do I always get depressed over the same things again and again? Do you suppose that there might be a lesion in my brain?

I used to see a therapist and a psychiatrist. I was not always honest with the therapist about other things like making friends. Other than that, I was fine. I told her everything from bullying to hearing music that's not there. She would question me the same way every time. The psychiatrist offered to have prozac given to me to help with my sensitivity to people's words, like back then i would take things very seriously like if someone called me a doofus or if someone said my legs were messed up due to acne scars or no one really likes you or you will never have friends. I mean, these words cut me pretty badly and I'm just like how can I ever get to the point where i feel like these words don't mean a thing? And when people smiled at me in a gloating manner, I'm thinking this person does not want the best for me or if they're smiling when i'm all nervous or sad then i would assume that people have something against me.

The feeling I get from your response is that you need to build up your self esteem, Stop being so worried about what every one else might think about you... You are you and just live your life.

Have you been evaluated by a neurologist? Having lesions, doesn't necessarily preclude depression...((and that's from someone with plenty of lesions, too many to count, on her brain...))

Of course, if you did have MS, there is something called emotional lability.

Emotional Changes : National MS Society

Of course, that can also come from a stroke or ADHD, and a couple other illness, that you may want to consult with a doctor over.

My psychiatrist has ordered CT/brain scans/brain MRI's on me from time to time. My brain structure results from the reading have always been "normal" but I still have depression from time to time. So, yes, it is definitely possible to experience depression without brain lesions.

It does sound serious, but maybe more in a psychological way. It sounds like you were bullied, and I don't know about your past. This can be traumatic to children, and can cause lasting pain that can result in depression.

I hope you find a good therapist who you feel comfortable enough with to be completely honest at some point. It takes awhile to build trust. Keep us posted!

I was not bullied in the sense that I was coerced to hand over my lunch money or anything. However, I was bullied when a bunch of kids were telling me to f*** off and that I had this and that or I didn't have that or this. I just want to forget about it all and just start all over.
