I ha a crown about a month and a half ago and my tooth still really hurts. They didn't give me a root canal ahead of time, which I guess is optional. Initially it was throbbing for the first week- even waking me up at night. I went back a week later and they shaved some of it down so it for better. Now it just throbs all the time - all over again. Now the dentist isn't open at all this week. I hate taking medicine ( I take enough already)- do I take some or just deal with the throbbing. It's not horrible but it's constant and painful.
Stupid tooth. Think they'll have to do it over again or give me a root canal instead???? How much does a root canal cost in the northeast USA?!? |

Not much worse than a toothache. I'm sorry you are having so much trouble. It does sound like they may should have done a root canal first, but sometimes it's hard to know. I'm speaking from experience not a knowledge of dentistry. I don't know what they cost. It's been a long time since I've had one, but I have plenty. Lol Hope they get it fixed for you soon.

Rather than take something for the pain, I think you should get the cause looked at. It sounds like the tooth could be getting ready to abscess or something. Is there any way you can leave a message for your dentist? They may have made provisions for patients with emergencies.
When I needed a root canal on a crowned tooth several years ago, the endodontist just drilled through the crown. |
