i went to my doctor about a week ago for a blood test to check for diabetes, i got the results on tuesday this week......... my suger levels were ok, ....and some other test was ok !!! but then they said i had to have another blood test in 4 weeks time because the test for my liver was high (reading of 72)
this is all dutch to me, but i was wondering if anyone here has been tested for diabetes and could put my mind to rest.

I have had Type II diabetes testing in the past. I'm glad to hear your sugar is normal. I'm not exactly sure what liver test function came back high, but, I know that a lot of different things can affect the liver and having another test in 4 weeks is good. Medications can affect the liver a lot. I don't think it's something you have to be overly concerned about. If the doctor was really concerned, he/she wouldn't be waiting for another month to have a blood test, they would be having other testing done right away.

Hang in there, I know waiting is a hard thing and our minds can run amok.

I had my liver enzymes come back abnormal. The doc said it could be liver damage (like cirrhosis--I used to be a heavy drinker so I was scared about that) or anemia. She had me wait a week during which I was to drink no alcohol or take any ibuprofin. When the results came back from the 2nd test it said my liver enzymes were fine, but I had pernicious anemia--which, if untreated, can cause depression, fatigue, vertigo (I had that, too) & eventually insanity & death (thus the term pernicious which means deadly). My husband said it was too late for me as far as the insanity went, I'm there!

But it is easily treated. I was started on monthly B-12 shots & now, through research, they've found that high doses of B-12 orally will get your levels up. I get tested periodically to make sure the levels are good. It did help with the vertigo. As far as the depression & fatigue, etc., it's hard to tell cuz I'm being treated for bipolar as well.

So you might ask the doc if you should abstain from anything to make sure it doesn't affect the test results. I agree that if the doc thought it was really serious he/she would have set you up for a follow-up test sooner.--Suzy
