hey! i just went to the dentist today to check on my teeth because i've had braces and they took them off so they're just looking to see if they are staying on place etc. i have a small metal retainer behind my bottom and upper teeth and apparently a place of the bottom retainer had went off so she had to put new glue. this dentist wasn't my usual dentist, but a cover one for my old one which had moved from the town. she seemed very unprofessional and to remove the glue that was left from the broken retainer she took some kind of machine that drills and i could feel it drill into my tooth for like 1 second. then she added new glue to my retainer and she added A LOT so i can feel how my tooth is all smooth on the backside of it by using my tounge, anyways, i leave and think everythings fine and i realize my tooth is kind of numb and i basically don't feel anything on it and it just feels like it doesn't belong there. she didn't use anything to make it numb or so but the feeling just came like that. it has been like this for a few hours now and im wondering if its normal. anyone who knows haha?

Welcome to PC!
I don't remember feeling anything afterward when they added the cement/ glue either for the inner retainers because it is on the surface of the tooth blocking it. Does it still feel numb or that you just cannot feel the tooth behind all the cement/glue?? Not being able to feel the tooth is normal because the tooth is blocked from your tongue by the cement. If however, you tap the top edge of your tooth with, say, the tip of a utensil (toothbrush or spoon) and it is still numb, I would contact your dentist as this would not be normal.
