Hello! I experienced SSNHL on June 30, 2013. When I woke up that morning I was completely deaf out of my right ear. I treated it with OTC drops and washes. I saw a Physician who also cleaned out my ears and they were clean. I was given antibiotics at that time.

Three months later, this month, I made an appt to see an Audiologist. Had a hearing test performed and it showed moderate to severe hearing loss (see image). I went to an ENT (ear, nose, throat) or Otolaryngologist to review the results of the hearing exam. He prescribed 10 days of oral Prednisone and an MRI to rule out anything else. MRI results came back fine.

I finished my 10 days of the steroids and I returned today to the Audiologist to find out HEY my hearing DIDN'T improve
Tomorrow I see the Otolaryngologist again and see what happens from here on out. The Audiologist said a hearing aid is probably not going to help me because it's my high pitches, not low pitches that is the problem.

Anyone have other procedures done?
Do I have ANY hope that I will regain my hearing?

I have no knowledge at all about this, but wanted you to know I care. I hope they find a solution to your problem very soon.

Hugs,

Jan

Thank you so much. I was referred to a specialist to see what else I have left as options since a hearing aid won't be beneficial and I can't afford one. Not covered by Medicaid

I don't understand why a hearing aid won't help you. Hearing aids now are programmed according to your hearing loss, so it wouldn't matter if the loss is in the high tones or the low tones, or both.

I wear hearing aids and received my first ones when I was on Medicaid.

I hope you find out more and get all the help you need

Have you tried checking with another doctor? Talking to someone else might help. And why hearing aid only for low pitches? I guess my friend is using hearing aid for high pitch issue only. I don't know but is there anything similar to BOGO 2014 happening in your place? I came to know about it through my friend only. Here is a link, I think it might help you. hearingsolutions.ca/promotions/current-promotion
