Thanks for all that responded to my ? on CPAC. I'm desperate and would appreciate any and all help. I've been to the sleep apena board but can't really find answers and called the sleep clinic and they "will get back to me". Two nights on the CPAC with a combo mouth/nose mask.

My asthma is much worse and retention of water. I sleep 9 hours and am compliant (I don't remove mask) but I am soooooo tired. Much worse than w/o mask. Couldn't drive to save my soul.... Not wanting to fall asleep but feel like the "walking dead". My brain is mush.

My apena was cat. as severe - though I was totally unaware of it.

So do/did anyone ever feel worse with the CPAC and does it get better?

Thanks,,,,,

I have a bipap machine.........2 different pressures. I wonder if maybe your working too hard with only one pressure and consequently are exhausted

I have complex sleep apnea (part obstructive, part central) and it has been great for me....

I hope you find somethng that works for you.....a good nights sleep is soooo important!!!

I called my doc complaining about several things after the first week of use. He said it was common for patients to complain about CPAP and urged me to keep wearing it to see if I start feeling better in a few weeks. He was right! I took me a month to get used to my CPAP.

My problems initially was keeping a proper fit throughout the night. I wanted to lie on my stomach or on my side with pressure on my face. It would dislodge the mask and cause me to wake or not receive the proper amount of air treatment because of leakage. I would also have headaches from the straps not being adjusted correctly.

I also have asthma. I have a CPAP humidifier which uses water but I don't heat the water. It seems to add the rught amount of moisture to my air. When I don't use water, I wake up with nose bleeds, sore throat, and cough.

Hang in there. Proper fit of the mask or interface is extremely important. Check your fit again. Readjust straps and sleeping position. Call your doc and address your issues.
