Can stress take a toll on your muscles? sometimes in stressfull situations the muscles hurt that I have over worked. Could stress make these muscles hurt more? I know sometimes this makes our day want to be over at work or a day that does not go right? But can this effect out mental status?

Tender Heart, I definitely think stress can make our muscles hurt and cause mental distress. I know when I am upset I can feel my muscles tensing up. And that can lead to their hurting. So, I work hard to relax.

I agree with @Travelinglady .
Definitely, stress can make things hurt. Just like anxiety, the body is receptive to our feelings and stress for sure can make our muscles tired, ache-y, and just plain painful. I've found that usually when I can recognize a pain or ache as stress, I can focus on techniques (usually DBT) to help calm me and if it doesn't go away completely, it will help. I've had back problems for six years now and while it is from an injury, stress and anxiety can contribute to times it is out of control or just horrible. Hope this helped a bit, and I hope that your pain gets better (and also less stress!). |
