Levoxythyrine and syntharoid both sent me into horrible mixed states/manic episodes. But my thyroid is very low and the doctor is concerned that I do "something". So I'm on the smallest dose possible. 12.5 of the levoxythyrine. Minimum is usually 25. I'm already on lamictal and celexa, and I don't know if the thyroid meds caused an adverse reaction on my brain or because it was mixed with these drugs. Doc doesn't know either.

What else can I do to help my hypo(low)thyroid?

Levoxythyrine and syntharoid are both examples of "T4" thyroxine replacement hormones (named because they have four iodine atoms) .

Another class are the "T3" thyroxine replacement hormones (with three iodine atoms - Liothyronine (marketed as Cytomel) is an example).

The T3 hormones are more potent than the T4 ones - trying a T3 one is an issue worth discussing with your doctor.

Apart from that, production of thyroxine is controlled by a hormone called Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), made by the pituitary gland. If you have not done so already, it would be worth getting your doctor to arrange for measurements of your blood TSH levels.

If they are abnormal that might indicate pituitary gland issues.

When I first starting taking Synthroid years ago, I felt anxious, especially in the AM about 1-2 hours after taking it. I will never know it if was the medication or my own thinking about it ... I have always been sensitive to medications and, therefore, a little phobic about them.

I don't notice any anxiety now, though, unless my dose has been increased. Maybe what you need is some time to adjust to the Synthroid. It is good thing you have been started on such a small dose. Hang in there, it gets better. It did for me.
