going to see the nurse in a bit, shes going to do blood tests and blood preasure check also the dreded smear i thought i would get that done while i was there, im hopping she can get the blood that she needs because i forgot that they have dificulties getting in from my arm and they normaly get a doc to get it from the back of hand, not looking forward to this as i havent met the nurses with this surgary yet

thank you they couldnt get any bloods so i am back there tomorrow to see another nurse

Tell them to use a child's butterfly on your hand. It's a very tiny needle that is attatched to plastic in a butterfly shape. They can use it to draw your blood on the back of your hand. It's the only way they can draw blood from me and it saves time and my misery if I tell them so they can do it right the first time.

I sure hope you read this before you go to see the nurse.

thank you january no i didnt manage to read this before i went back to see the nurse, but lucky for me she was good at her job not saying the other nurses werent, she put the blood preasure cuff on first pumped it up not quite as hard as you would for a blood preasure result, and then went to the side rather than the middle of the inner elbow,
i also took my eldest daughter for a routine blood test but she wouldnt do this with out recieving the letter from her other doctor who she sees her at the clinic for her meds, as she is a new paitent at this surgary they would rather not do it untill they recieve this letter, she told me to ask for her when i rebook the appointment

*hugs* I have the same problem. They almost always have to use the kids butterfly on the back of my hand. At my clinic if one nurse can't get the blood on the first try she's not allowed to do it again. They send in someone else.
