Well, generally it's no big deal. A little poke, and sometimes you have some upper arm muscle pain and stiffness a day or so afterwards, minor, more annoying than anything. I've been getting one for years now, one or two times I had a very slight fever the next day or so, along with a slight sense of allover muscle/body aches, but again, very trivial, pop a couple of aspirin or ibuprofen and it goes away.

The flu shot isn't 100% effective by any means, but it is well worth it. I did get the actual flu last March, as did everyone in my office, confirmed via testing, even though I got my flu shot a year ago in October. It seems last year's vaccines was one of the least effective in a while, only about 60% IIRC.

Yup, you definitely should do it.
Thanks for this!

I've been getting the flu shot every year for at least the last 10 years. Never had a problem with it. Sometimes I get a little swelling at the site of the injection, but that goes away within 24 hours.

I've had pneumonia 3 times, so it's pretty important for me to take precautions against respiratory infections. Haven't had a case of the flu since 2008, when it turned into pneumonia. I had bad karma that year and came down with one of the nastier flu strains.

The most reported side effects are arm soreness or tenderness at the injection site afterward as mentioned above but as MTJ mentions, taking Advil / ibuprofen is what recommended to help with this; it goes away shortly. Otherwise many experience no side effects. If you have any other symptoms than those mentioned above, contact your doc immediately or seek emergency help.

Thanks for the info everyone, sounds like a good deal.

As far as how it will feel, I'm used to getting shots as I get a shot of a Invega Sustenna once a month and it leaves my arm feeling a little sore but it's not bad at all.

Umm basically to me It was the same as getting my allergy shot, but it didn't burn. Just a little poke and a band aid.
Thanks for this!

Some of the more recent studies recommend not using an anti inflammatory as immune supression may decrease effectiveness of the flu shot. I would recommend a warm bath instead
