Hi everyone... i didn't really know where to post this but i hope that its okay that i did here ...

I just have a question about my stomach and was wondering if anyone had any idea what might be happening! Okay sometimes i get these sharp pains in my stomach where it just feels like there is something twisting my insides almost! The only thing that makes it feel better is if i lie down on my back, but if im in a situation where i can't they only get worse. I can't pinpoint where this pain is coming from, but its just all over my stomach. Its not any sort of digestion/menstrual pain so i dont even know how to describe it really. The only thing i can come up with is anxiety? But then again it happens randomly even when i'm not feeling anxious or anything.

Does anybody else experience this at all? I haven't heard of anyone else who has ... Stomach Pains? what should i do about it? I'm thinking about going to the doctors, but i never know when my stomach is going to hurt so i couldn't go and explain to them very well when my stomach feels fine ... Stomach Pains?

Or do go and have a check-up. Just describe what happens when it hurts etc. It could very well be anxiety related e.g. stomach ulcer or such like. It could be a combination of factors e.g. accumulation of stress, being overworked or not eating properly etc.

I agree with getting your doctor involved.
Have you been able to link it with any food items?
Your gall bladder could be acting up.....
ask a doc.

You should go talk to your doc, jacq10.

I get pains like that. Sometimes it's like a sudden stabbing in the lower left of my abdomen, sometimes it's all over and other times I feel like I have a burning belt wrapped around my hips. I always feel like I need to stand up really straight and then bend over backwards and stick my stomach out -- like stretching will make the pain go away (but it doesn't).

It turns out my pain is caused by IBS. Anxiety has a huge effect on IBS. When my anxiety is bad, that's when my IBS flares up and I experience the most pain and bloating and all sorts of unpleasantness.

So, go talk to your doctor. There are plenty of benign (but uncomfortable) conditions that could be causing your pain. It's best to get to the bottom of it. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Good luck at the doc! Keep us posted.

Another Nova Scotian? Awesome! I grew up in Liverpool, but I've lived in Halifax since '88.

jacq...you know just a few weeks ago i was posting crazy on this forum and the chronic pain forum.. I was dealing alot with the same thing and it had gotten alot worse...i was never officially diagnosed but the doctor did say i possibly have IBS (my mother has it and almost all the same symptoms so its pretty much a garuntee) Go to your doctor and ask about IBS ...if it is he probably will give you some medicine for the flare up but i dont take anything else...Juliana is right...it does flare up with stress and very very painful for me...good luck at the doctors!!

A very good med for IBS is Robinul Forte. It helps stop the cramping and burning. Just a FYI in hopes that it will help.

Hugs to all,

Jan
