I'm 25 yeard old now, turning 26 in September. But I want to know what could be causing me to daydream excessively? I never head a traumatic childhood. I grew up fine, but I always daydreamed. I can't stop it for some reason. Even now, I would sit on the bus and daydream. I never get anything done. I can't pay attention at uni, and as a result, I have been kicked out due to bad work. Music makes me daydream even more.
I don't know why I do this. I basically sit on the bus for hours and hours and daydream. I have monthly bus pass so I just take a bus ride. I can't stop daydreaming. I heard of maladaptive daydreaming, but that's not officially reconsidered as a disorder. I'm trying to find a official diagnoses. What could that be? Any thoughts? |

Welcome dug. If daydreaming is excessive and causes you discomfort, you could consider seeing a psychologist. Also if maybe you don't have really a disorder, it could help talking about it and receiving suggestions. Hope that you can also talk to other people here with the same problem.

Hey
I daydream excessively too, been doing it since childhood and i'm 21 now. I must say the bus thing made me smile I do that too, I even missed my stop once just because I wanted to continue my fantasy and didn't want to get off! ![]() I definitely feel Maladaptive daydreaming is a genuine issue even though it's not officially recognized I was on a forum once, Unfortunately I've since forgotten the URL, but there's so many people who've experience the same thing with similar symptoms. I wouldn't dig to deep into an official diagnoses though I find labels can more often cause more problems than they solve. However as it has caused a lot of issues for you I would probably recommend seeking some professional help, to aid you managing your daydreaming so you can function in daily life and it isn't a hindrance. |
