Ok, Im not really sure where to put this, drug questions or here.

I just started taking an anti-depressant, today (april 8) was day 6. The only side effect I've continued to have is that I get sleepy in the middle of the day (anywhere from 1 - 4 pm) my headaches and nausea are gone.

And since day 4, when my headache was MIA for an hour or two after taking a dose of Motrin, I'd have a burst of energy, in which I'd clean something. Thursday morning it was my kitchen and living room. Granted it needed to be done, and my grandmother was on her way over for a visit, but it suprised me because when I woke up on Thursday I felt like complete %#@&#!. Nauseas, tired, headache. Ugh, it was worse than morning sickness. On Friday, the same thing, except I had no headache on Friday, so my 'burst' began around 11 and ended when I put my daughter down for a nap. I ended up falling asleep as well. (I was so pissed cause I'd just made muffins, and was SO hungry!) That was at about 2:30.

Saturday, I folded and put away about 5 loads of laundry, including all the hanging. Plus another full tidying of my kitchen and living room. (by tidying I mean picking up clutter and actually putting it away, not just moving it to another room or out of sight).

Today, gosh I should just quote my blog. I could type it all out. It feels good to type, but it's LONG..... so...

it starts at some point last night..

</font><blockquote><div id="quote"><font class="small">Quote:</font>
Then I put the boy in the shower, folded a bit more (this was before I finished folding) then put the girl in the bath (after I was done with the clothes) got her clean, let her play. I couldn't stay put in the bathroom, so I finally grabbed my computer and looked up VAX-D and IDD therapy for my husbands back. Just as an alternative for him.

I'd really like him to look into it and see if he thinks one might be helpful. Though they seem to be the exact same thing thus far. I just started my research.

Then after I got the kids to bed, I put together their Easter baskets. I filled eggs with Annies cheddar bunnies and some bunnies cookies. They each got a plush bunny, and yogurt covered raisins. My Son got a dry erase board, some felt coloring tablets with markers, a Jax game, and pencils. My daughter got a cute little bag, an Elmo vanity "set" and some Zoey clips. She loves Sesame Street, so I thought she'd like it all. After they did that and had breakfast, I finished loading the dishwasher, took a shower, hung out with my husband and daughter a little. While the dryer was running, then when it stopped I folded that load. Hubby called his parents to tell them we weren't coming and I washed the table, and a few windows, the living room table, and the TV. Then when he was off the phone I loaded up the washer again. It's already washed and is in the dryer. I've folded another 2 loads of laundry and put it "away" (mine and dh's stuff is still in baskets in the bedroom) and loaded up the hamper again. Later on I'll probably pull out the crib so I can put away blankets since it's April now. We've got enough if we have another cold snap that we'll be covered (lol) but there are a bunch that need to be put away somewhere. So they'll go in the wooden chest in the baby's room. And then hopefully I can get the crib back on top of the thing.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

And yes, I did much more today. When I finally sat down (around 10:50) I realized my back was SORE. And I think my knee is starting to hurt, but the motrin has kicked in again.

I have never had energy or motavation, or whatever it is, like this before.

Is this what I'm SUPPOSED to feel like on anti-depressants?

Which AD are you taking? I have to admit that I'm a tad jealous of you. I'm longing for a burst of energy. My flat is such a mess. I haven't had a burst of energy in years. Sudden bursts of energy...that last all day

Anyway, I do know that some people can get manic or hypomanic episodes when they take an AD. That could be what's happening to you. You should talk to your doc about it. The physical side effects -- like nausea -- usually go away after you've been on the meds for a few weeks, but it sounds like you might be getting hypomanic and that's something I think you should tell your doc about. Good luck.

That does sound a little 'high' ...

I get enough energy to do normal stuff when ADs kick in for me.

E.g. I will go out for a coffee or drinks when normally I'd be very much just wanting to stay at home and make up any excuse to do so.

I had to clean massively the other day, but only because my Dad and sister were coming up and well I live with boys and they are kinda slack. I like clean, our apartment is normally clean, but it wasn't particularly in the kitchen, and I had to tidy up. I wish I had your very enthusiastic cleaning spurts!!!!!!

Good luck.

Thank you for your input! I appreciate it.

I'm taking Lexapro. Which reminds me I need to go pop it!

I will mention this to my doc. I'm not sure if I should wait until my 2 wk follow up, so if it continues I'll call her sooner.

Thinking out loud. ..Hmmmm... I read another thread that smoking lessens Lexapro's effects. I wonder if I would have had those 'bursts' had I not smoked when I was taking it....

Liberada, I'm on Lexapro... and still smoking like a chimney... and I haven't had any bursts of energy. I've been pretty consistently lethargic. Sudden bursts of energy...that last all day Not as lethargic as I was on Celexa, though, so I guess that's a good thing.

I haven't been smoking much. Yesterday was the most, I had 3 cigs between 9 am and 10 pm.

Infact, I have 3 left in the pack and that's it. I'm quitting (I also joined a gym, and when I get to go work out on Saturdays I like to not smoke.

Not to mention, well, I hate that my kids see me smoke.
