I've had two bouts of diverticulitis in less than 3 years. Both cleared up okay, but I'm worried about this becoming a recurrent problem and possibly leading to some awful secondary condition.
My primary care doctor seems pretty good, but I wonder if I should ask to see a gastroenterologist. When I read about the complications that can develop, I get pretty alarmed. I'm fine now. But I worry about the future. Any advice? Any warnings? I use Miralax regularly, but that didn't prevent this recent attack. I declined antibiotics this time, and I've recovered fully without them. |

Does seem alarming to worry about reoccurrences with such an illness.
Aside from dietary changes, cannot think of much advice. I am aware, if worst case concerns you there's new medical procedures and transplants of that specific tissue of the body. Although was it transplanted or artificial implant, my memory doesn't oft remember such details. Just that it was successful. Sent from my LGMS323 using Tapatalk |

I would recommend a friend with this kind of condition to see a specialist. It can't hurt and your primary doctor will understand. A second opinion is all you want and you'd be surprised there might be tips or advice that your primary is not aware of. Get copies of all your test results and bring them with you.

That sounds like a very good idea. I will plan to do that. This may be something I'll contend with down the line, maybe repeatedly. I need the best advise on how to manage it and not have complications, some of which sound pretty horrible.
