I've been a mental health patient since my 20's, I'm now closer to 50.
I have been dealing with muscle weakness and pain and back issues since the birth of my second son. It has worsened in the past few years.
I now can no longer keep up any physical activity for long without extreme pain and weakness.

My doctor ignored it last time. Contributes this to stress. I know what I have is real. He also agrees it could be sacroiliac joint dysfunction, but the mri about a year ago didn't show it. It is also the muscles. I can't seem to heal the injury no matter what I do, or build muscle in the places i need them. I have peeling extreme dry skin issues, and on my face is the worst. I am not getting help for it.

He acts more like my poorly trained psychiatrist than a doctor. I'm so fed up.

I really believe every doctor I see looks at my mental health and just assumes my physical health doesn't matter or I'm imagining my pain.

Here, everything is on the computer now, and accessed by any doctor. I'm just so fed up. I've had pain for years. I grew up with lots of issues and I usually don't make a big deal. But now my quality of life, well, put it this way, I envy people who can walk, jog, move, bend, without pain.
I'm not looking for pain medication, but a reason why I can't seem to heal.

There is no answer other than to try to get another doctor. I've made up my mind. He will have to approve it, as here in canada we can't get a new doctor when we already have one. I needed to put this down. I'm angry. When you can no longer just get up and do the dishes without pain, cook or clean and catch up with housework, enjoy a walk to the park, a drive.. what way of life is it.

I quit smoking over 6 months ago. He stated how I gained weight since then, and actually suggested I allow myself to smoke again. I was so pissed I bought a pack and am back to wheezing. I know, I was stupid, but he really obviously would like to see me die. I'm going to go give the rest of the pack to my neighbour. If my doc doesn't care, so what, I'm going to care about myself and get the help I need!!

I hear your frustration, disparaissant. I also can no longer move my body much at all. I tried starting to dance a little but I missed several days of trying, because I was getting ready for my doc appointment today. (My doc was more on the ball today and took too seriously a tiny bit of chest pain I had a few weeks ago.)

Anyway, please don't go back to smoking. I quit smoking in March by replacing it with vaping and this doc doesn't like that. Too bad because without vaping I'd go straight back to smoking.

Yes, thanks Angelique. I know you struggle as well with your back
I saved 2 cigs but what's the point. I now have the beginning of a cold, a sore throat. Teaches me for not doing what is right.
I'm glad you quit smoking, vaping is much less damaging. I know you have copd, I'm thinking of you. I should really quit complaining when others have pain as well. Take care of yourself!
Thanks for this!

You are entitled to complain ! I find so much similarity in so much of what you write, I understand it well.

I'm sorry that you're having trouble with your doctor taking your pain seriously. I would recommend asking for physical therapy referral, it may really help your symptoms.

I also had trouble with Drs believing my severe headaches. I too had a history of mental health problems from my teens. Finally I lost the ability to swallow and they began to take it seriously. Although first they said I had stress and prescribed physical therapy, FINALLY they did an MRI and found a brain malformation. When I needed a neurologist after having brain surgery I asked my Pdoc to recommend someone. She did and now I ask for her referral for all my docs.. That way they would know I had mental health issues but I had a Pdoc that believed in me.
